Search Continues for Lower East Side Cop Shooter

Yesterday was a day of dichotomy. Two very different shootings transpired.  In the wee hours of the morning, a cop was shot while responding to an incident inside the Seward Park Extension on Essex Street; and a few hours later production crews parked a few blocks away to film scenes for the movie Can a Song Save Your Life?

In a span of just a few hours, 62-64 Essex Street quickly turned from crime scene to media circus. Patrol cars lined much of nearby Norfolk Street, with the big boys deployed outside the housing complex. Meanwhile, “reward” posters ($12,000) went up fairly quickly and now grace much of the street furniture in the immediate vicinity.

By the evening, news trucks galore were on scene to presumably get their shots for the 5 pm news.
