“The Disappearance of Eleanor Rigby” Filming on the Lower East Side Today

Principal filming just began in New York City for a new feature film called The Disappearance of Eleanor Rigby (cue the song). In a unique Hollywood twist, director Ned Benson is telling the tale with two personally-penned, side-by-side versions from “his” and “hers” perspectives.

Each movie will explore half the story, which focuses on the relationship of James McAvoy and Jessica Chastain during a difficult time in their marriage. He’s a restaurant owner, she’s going back to school. Other actors starring in the double-feature include Isabelle Huppert, Viola Davis, William Hurt, Nina Arianda, Ciaran Hinds, Bill Hader and Jess Weixler.

Production for Eleanor Rigby is headed to the Lower East Side today, with its sights set on the Orchard/Essex/Canal/Hester zone. Signs in the vicinity announce that crews are here to capture “interior and exterior scenes at locations in this area.” Keep an eye out for Mr. Hader so you can show him your best Stefan impression.
