“Beverly’s” Identified as New Art Bar at 21 Essex

As the Fat Radish prepares for the imminent launch of its Lead Belly oyster bar, waitstaff refugees from predecessor Sweet Paradise are one step closer to opening their own venture at 21 Essex. Located just around the corner at the former Sneaktip, the new spot is called Beverly’s.

Principals behind the so-called expat venture appeared before Community Board 3 Monday night to successful results. The advisory committee signaled a green light for full liquor privileges.

Leah Dixon explains that Beverly’s will be a cafe hangout dayside, and flip to a bar serving food at night. The idea was conceived as a neighborhood establishment catering specifically to “the growing art scene below Grand Street.” This description falls in line with street intel received earlier this year claiming a similar vibe as Sweet Paradise.

There’s still plenty of work to be done, though. Expect an opening sometime in November.
