Rickshaw Spidey almost exclusively performs his acrobatic stunts around Tompkins Square Park. Rarely crossing the border of East Houston. But there he was on a traffic-congested Ludlow Street at midnight this past Friday, thrilling two female bar-goers in the back seat. Cops seemed to let it pass without incident; pedestrians didn’t, immediately furnishing cameras and cell phones to document the spectacle. The antics never get old…

Shaun Emerson, a thirty-something transplant from Miami, is the daredevil dude behind the nighttime gimmick. Apparently he entered the Miami rickshaw business in the early aughts and began donning the costume during “Spider-Man Saturdays” to stand apart from the competition. He’s been “performing” in New York for a few years now.
