SNL Sundries: Abby Elliott Out and Seth MacFarlane Hosting Premiere

Saturday Night Live is bleeding cast members in the off-season – Andy Samberg and Kristen Wiig both decided against returning. Now second generation SNL’er Abby Elliott, whose father Chris Elliott was part of the ensemble in 1994, is throwing in the towel after four years on the bill. BIG loss. Her next move is to rival network CBS, where she’s joined How I Met Your Mother for a string of episodes during the forthcoming eighth season.

Producers are currently auditioning new players for the 38th season ahead of the premiere on September 15. Still unknown is whether Jason Sudeikis will stay on board. Meanwhile, the first few SNL dates were announced yesterday:

September 15 (premiere): Seth MacFarlane hosts with music from Frank Ocean.
September 22: Joseph Gordon-Levitt returns for his second time, with Mumford & Sons performing.
October 6: Daniel Craig hosting with Muse returning for their second time on stage.
