The Cocktail Bodega “Underground” on Chrystie Street

More details are coming to light regarding Cocktail Bodega, the newest venture by restaurateur Matt Levine. The long-coming 205 Club replacement on Chrystie Street is quite close to completion, and we now learn about intentions for the basement.

Sources say that CBU (“Cocktail Bodega Underground”), with entrance on Stanton, will be a club serving up a musical format of drum-and-bass, dubstep, and jungle. The walls will apparently be skinned with graffiti scrawls as this sketch illustrates. Looks like it’s the same dude who painted the plywood, Lower East Side artist Doug Aldrich…

On a related note, it appears the Jetset Report awarded Levine’s Sons of Essex establishment a score of 97 alongside the Dutch, Momofuku, and the Breslin. How do you feel about this food award?

Drum & Bass and ‘Jungle’ are the same thing. And nice to see Matt jumping on the Dubstep bandwagon. Its a shame he’s 2 years late and can never compete with the larger venues that actually have the revenue to pay the dubstep acts that people want to hear.
