Some album covers will no doubt live forever. The list is short, though distinguished, their images burned into our collective consciousness. Yet what about the outtakes from photo shoots that yielded such classics as London Calling or Nevermind? Perennial music afficianodo Flaming Pablum steers us to the timesuck of Facebook page for Yer Doing Great. It is in this forum that he collects some awesomely obscure shots.

Like the Beastie Boys during the Paul’s Boutique shoot near the corner of Ludlow and Rivington Streets, as seen above. Or this outtake from the Check Your Head sessions which has the dearly departed MCA smiling at the camera.

Or the Ramones chillin in Extra Place, as shot by Roberta Bayley. Not so punk to smile…

The man on fire running away during the Wish You Were Here shoot.

Aladdin Sane contact sheet, the chosen Bowie colored for effect.

Spencer Elden in the pool for Nirvana’s Nevermind.
