Hester Street Playground Courts Under Renovation

Industrial surgical supplies are out, the emergency room prepared. With new jungle gym to boot, lower Sara D. Roosevelt Park is ready for its latest makeover operation – the network of courts located between Grand and Hester Streets in the Hester Street Playground.

Ground-break transpired within the last couple weeks, and the park space has since become a field peppered with rubble mounds. Perimeter fencing is also in place for protection. Local handball and basketball players will need to choose a new spot to play (e.g. Houston, Seward Park) for the duration. Our guess is at least a year before this baby is complete.
