Mosaic Man Decorates Economakis Mansion on East 3rd

It’s been a prolific year for the Mosaic Man, what with online stores, murals for the Bean, and touching up his opus of East Village lampposts. Earlier this week, the 64-year-old artist was spotted on East Third Street gluing tiles to the marquee of the notorious Economakis mansion house. The family, who booted longtime residents to construct an enormous single family home, commissioned the new piece after seeing the coffee shop mosaic. Shards used were scavenged from the previous gut renovations.
With this artistic addition, the block is gradually becoming something of a mosaic medley.
