CollectiCo Gallery Opens at 322 Grand Street

322 Grand Street, at the corner of Orchard, is the home of the newest Lower East Side gallery. Despite a host of recent interior renovations, the store has been the proverbial dead zone ever since Vogue Day Spa shuttered two-and-a-half years ago. Nothing snagged at the line…until CollectiCo arrived.

CollectiCo is a pop-up showroom helmed by artist Shannon Curry Hartmann. The inaugural group show premieres tomorrow night with a launch party (6-9pm), and will continue through the end of December.

Collecting can take on different meanings in the hands of visual artists. Some collect and re-order as process and others amass images in an effort to make meaning in the world. Some frequently work in series or multiples and a sense of accumulation permeates the work.

Works on paper, limited edition prints, paintings, books, photographs and small objects will activate the gallery two and three-dimensionally.
