New Healthcare Facility for 47 Essex Street

Since the cast of commercial characters at 47 Essex Street is down to one – Unique Hairstylists – there’s plenty of room for redevelopment. And that’s precisely what’s happening here. DOB permits were filed at the end of September, with construction signs, plywood sheds, and curbside dumpsters all arriving in tandem.
From the inkling of info available, it appears that a new community “ambulatory health care facility” is presently in the works for the first floor, while retail store is planned for the ground level. Or, according to the all-caps DOB-speak: “REMOVE BASEMENT FLOOR AND PARTIAL OF FIRST FLOOR. INSTALL NEW FIRST FLOOR AND MEDICAL OFFICE, RELOCATE FIRE ESCAPE AND OBTAIN NEW CERTIFICATE OF OCCUPANCY.”
Raymond Chan Architects is behind this new 47 Essex Street construction.
