Scenes from Sandy: Art Installation at Coleman

Coleman Skate Park resides right on the fringe of Zone A, and is therefore prone to the worst. We took a midnight stroll and noticed the small grove of trees at the southwest corner of Pike and Monroe Streets. The greenery is anchored to the base of light poles and fencing with a loom-like complex of taut lines, just waiting for Hurricane Sandy to come onshore. UPDATE: What looks like city efforts to secure the trees is actually an art installation.

Meanwhile, the skate park and the immediate surroundings were creepily quiet. Nothing happening except for the flow of unfettered trash through the street like urban tumbleweeds.
