The SKINnY Begins Expansion on Orchard Street

The SKINnY is about to jump into a new weight class with a larger waistline, so to speak. Having closed for renovations last month, the narrow dive is already on its way to a bigger future.
As reported here back in March, the SKINnY picked up the lease at the neighboring 174 Orchard Street, the twenty-seven-year home of Elegant Woolen & Silk. The old-school signage of the former resident flies in the face of the interior demolition. Plywood sheds were constructed late last week, and the bar was gutted to oblivion.
It’ll be a complete re-imagining of the space, which had been a railroad car of a watering hole since the early aughts. Projected completion date is early 2013, according to an announcement on their website.
