Zucco’s Shuttered by Health Department Yesterday

Zucco’s Le French Diner caught the ire of Health Department inspectors yesterday afternoon, and was summarily shuttered. Despite carrying an “A” grade. Apparently there’s an issue with the plumbing in the cellar, but it’s not 100% clear since the DOH website was never updated. However, a previous inspection earlier this month made note of:

Plumbing not properly installed or maintained; anti-siphonage or backflow prevention device not provided where required; equipment or floor not properly drained; sewage disposal system in disrepair or not functioning properly.

Either way, we are told that the neighborhood favorite at 188 Orchard Street will reopen sometime tomorrow.

Namesake proprietor Zucco passed away almost three years ago from a heart attack. He had opened the established on Orchard Street back in 2005.
