Beatrice Inn Vet Matt Abramcyk Eyeing 269 East Houston

Posted on: November 12th, 2012 at 6:53 am by

One Tribeca restaurant and nightlife vet is headed to the corridor of East Houston deemed by mainstream press as the next Meatpacking. Indeed, Matt Abramcyk is coming to the Lower East Side.

After opening a bevy of watering holes crosstown in Tribeca – Super Linda, Tiny’s, Warren 77, South & Mills, et al – it seems the proverbial well is drying up over there. Application documents filed with Community Board 3 reveal that Matt Abramcyk has eyes for 269 East Houston, formerly the four-year home of rock dive Local 269. Proposal is for another establishment of similar format – two-level bar hosting live music – with full liquor license and 4 am closing times every night. However, it appears the basement would be used more for private events and such.

Abramcyk and business partner Franco Vlasek will fight for their right (to party) come next Monday.

The following guest post was written by Matt Marello, a resident of the Seward Park Co-op, who is fed up with the ongoing traffic bottleneck at Grand and Clinton Streets. There once was a quiet, peaceful neighborhood on the Lower East Side, where birds sang, children played, and the elderly could cross the street without being […]

With Pizza-Speakeasy at 1 Ludlow Street Canceled, Popular Village Bistro ‘Mimi’ Signs on

Those grand plans to install a pizzeria and basement speakeasy at the three-pointed 1 Ludlow Street totally tanked. But that’s obvious. Partially built out, this unique address was to become Ludlow Inn and Three Points, with both Numero 28 principals and Shingo Gokan respectively on tap. Word on the street is that there was allegedly some […]

‘Congee Bowery’ Temporarily Closes for Hot Pot Tune-up

Congee Bowery is currently down, but apparently not out. The twelve-year-old Chinese restaurant closed a couple weeks ago for a total makeover. It’s essentially a transformation in both menu and layout. Once the month-long renovation period is complete at 207 Bowery, the reinvigorated Congee Bowery will focus on hot pot style instead of traditional Chinese […]

Didn’t Abramcyk fight for his right to party at Smith and Mills? The story ran “Smith and Mills Fights For Its Right To Party” in New York Magazine December 11. 2007. The fact is he had no right to party. His C of O was never valid at Smith and Mills which obstructs his neighbors egress for their 5000 square foor loft over Abrmacyk’s 199 square foot illegal bar at Smith and Mills. The city is throwing him out after he was caught lying to a judge at Smith and Mills. This kid is a promoter for EMM a tier 2 operator who has no rights at all. The kid is a con man!

This is only because the Gindi’s well ran dry, his employers who own Smth and Mills, Tiny’s s, 77 Warren and Super Linda NOT Abramcyk, who own the buildings the forced Sean Avery to repair. What a liar!

Isn’t this the same owner’s building as Smith and Mills, Tiny, 77 Warren and Super Linda who owns all the bars, not Abramcyk? This building is up for sale in a 200 million dollar fraud scheme by the owners to ell these buildings “vacant” to boost the retail componet. This is the Gindi’s from Century 21 not Abramcyk’s bar application. He was hired to start a few fires, steal power, filed fraud insurance claims over “accidents” pretending to be bars. Thee tenants are in serious trouble and sincerely hope they all hired lawyers. The bar is a red herring. Abramcyk was sent in to destroy the buildings to pull the demo clause to distress the buildings and the leases. He isn’t in the bar business. His family are the real estate brokers for the Gindi family who are face a dozen judges already over this 200 million dollar fraud scheme. This is ne for this history books. Thanks Abramcyk. You just proved our case for our own loft. This kid belongs in jail for what he’s done. BEWARE!
