Phonebooth Hacking on the Bowery

Posted on: November 9th, 2012 by

We’ve seen some pretty cool phonebooth hacking over the years. Most notably when KATSU hijacked the housings for his own personal gain. Advertisements along Bowery and Delancey were replaced with artwork that seemed a natural fit at the time. Such is the case with a payphone across from the Germania Bank Building at the corner of Spring Street. In this case, an undated black-and-white photo of the same spot was just stuffed behind the glass. Talk about meta.

No indication of the entity behind the move, but more than likely it’s just some clever guerrilla marketing…
