An unidentified “New Orleans-themed tavern” in the neighborhood has taken to Craigslist to seek out an armed security guard with “a pleasant, even jovial, demeanor & attitude, physically touching anyone only as a last resort, always.”

Below is the full ad:

Bar owner seeks mature security person, with gun carry permit. Military, police, federal agents, MMA background a plus (doorman, ID checker experience a must) for bar/business security; a chill, fun, popular New Orleans Themed tavern, no trouble really. And as you will be dealing directly with the public, the perfect person will have a pleasant, even jovial, demeanor & attitude, physically touching anyone only as a last resort, always. And personal security for bar owner (not involved in any illicit activities of any kind) when in the bar. Guaranteed 4 nights a week, Sun, Mon, Fri & Sat. Please include a picture with your resume and a hourly or nightly pay expectation.

Seems drastic. How do you feel about posting an armed security guard with a carry permit at your local bar? Sound off in the comments!

11 Things You Need to Know about the Lowline’s $83M Underground Park

City officials announced their full support of the $83 million Lowline project back in July, some five years after its conception. The backing came as the bureacracy created a dog-and-pony show to try and elicit proposals for the 60,000 square-foot vacant trolley terminal beneath Delancey Street. The Lowline was the only proposal (naturally), and now […]

After 14 Years of Cafe El Portal, Pink ‘Pietro Nolita’ Takes Over at 174 Elizabeth Street

With one longtime restaurant gone, another takes its place at 174 Elizabeth Street. The much-loved Cafe El Portal on Elizabeth Street quietly closed its doors back in May. Chef-owner Gloria Arteaga decided to end operations after fourteen years on the block. (It opened shortly after 9/11.) Unlike the gas issues that forced closure in 2015, […]

Slumlord Castellan Snatches 125 Rivington Street for $9.8M

Why is it that, in the year 2016, the Lower East Side continues to attract real estate speculators with terrible track records? The latest to jump in on the fun is Castellan Real Estate Partners, a hedge-fund-backed investment group that just purchased 125 Rivington Street. According to public records, the five-story walkup (east of Essex) traded […]

Could this be the 169 Bar on East Broadway? or where else?
Is the clientele so unruly that an armed guard is needed? If so, Community Board 3 should have some input and this should be reported to them

    • Hey19

I know an off duty bartender who got stabbed in the head at 169Bar.

  • what could go wrong?

  • LESider

What could go wrong? How about a gun fight on East Broadway or wherever this bar is located on the LES. So sick of these bars with their suburban wannabe hipsters who wake up the neighborhood at 4AM with their wasted clatter and then leave a vomit trail behind them…

  • it’s illegal to ask for a photo with your resume.

  • Annoyedlessider

They should reduce the closing times in nyc to 1AM.

  • Seems they’re taking the New Orleans theme a little too far, doesn’t it? It’s a bad idea.

…and Annoyedlessider – you may have other reasons why you want the rollback, but whatever is up with this bar and the issue of closing time are unrelated things. They could have violence at 1am, 10pm, 3am, or 6pm, so your logic escapes me.

  • “personal security for bar owner – not involved in any illicit activities of any kind” – sounds shady as fuck. Anyone who points out that fact is definitely involved in illicit activities. Why else would they need a gun-toting giant MMA fighter as personal bodyguard?

and isn’t “personal bodyguard” a totally different class of job than “bouncer”?

    giant red flags here people
