An unidentified “New Orleans-themed tavern” in the neighborhood has taken to Craigslist to seek out an armed security guard with “a pleasant, even jovial, demeanor & attitude, physically touching anyone only as a last resort, always.”

Below is the full ad:

Bar owner seeks mature security person, with gun carry permit. Military, police, federal agents, MMA background a plus (doorman, ID checker experience a must) for bar/business security; a chill, fun, popular New Orleans Themed tavern, no trouble really. And as you will be dealing directly with the public, the perfect person will have a pleasant, even jovial, demeanor & attitude, physically touching anyone only as a last resort, always. And personal security for bar owner (not involved in any illicit activities of any kind) when in the bar. Guaranteed 4 nights a week, Sun, Mon, Fri & Sat. Please include a picture with your resume and a hourly or nightly pay expectation.

Could this be the 169 Bar on East Broadway? or where else?
Is the clientele so unruly that an armed guard is needed? If so, Community Board 3 should have some input and this should be reported to them

What could go wrong? How about a gun fight on East Broadway or wherever this bar is located on the LES. So sick of these bars with their suburban wannabe hipsters who wake up the neighborhood at 4AM with their wasted clatter and then leave a vomit trail behind them…

Seems they’re taking the New Orleans theme a little too far, doesn’t it? It’s a bad idea.

…and Annoyedlessider – you may have other reasons why you want the rollback, but whatever is up with this bar and the issue of closing time are unrelated things. They could have violence at 1am, 10pm, 3am, or 6pm, so your logic escapes me.

“personal security for bar owner – not involved in any illicit activities of any kind” – sounds shady as fuck. Anyone who points out that fact is definitely involved in illicit activities. Why else would they need a gun-toting giant MMA fighter as personal bodyguard?

and isn’t “personal bodyguard” a totally different class of job than “bouncer”?
