Three Manhattan bachelors make a pact to live it up while remaining single in the city that never sleeps. This cliche is the premise behind a new movie called Are We Officially Dating?, filming today and tomorrow in Little Italy. Expect to see hordes of teeny boppers, as Zac Efron leads the cast in this Tom Gormican movie.
Efron stars beside Miles Teller and Imogen Poots.
Community Board 3 nominations have been in since late last month. The fifty members of the advisory body will pick their next leader – the Chairperson seat – at the full board meeting tonight. (The public has no say in the matter.) For the last several years, its been Gigi Li atop the heap. Stepping […]
Herewith, some photos from Saturday’s rooftop fire at 1 Ludlow Street. The unique structure at this corner – located at the three points of Division, Canal, and Ludlow Streets – caught fire but was quickly extinguished by an armada of first responders. Word on the street is that the flames may have sparked due to a […]
It took five days after sales went live this month for a buyer to snap up the 4,000 square-foot penthouse atop Annabelle Selldorf’s 13-story Bowery condo. The literal crown jewel is currently under contract for a whopping $17 million, which annihilates records for the area. Two weeks later, the 8,439 square-foot retail space in the base […]
Opening a soccer-related coffee shop on lower Forsyth Street was an exercise in synergy. The Football Cafe, as it’s officially known, is a popular pit stop for local club players on Lions Gate Field across the street (at Grand). Ten months deep, the refueling station is increasing its visibility on the block. Indeed, that antique-looking […]
WTF is going on at Chinatown Soup? We thought this was an “arts space for the neighborhood,” not a breeding ground for violence. For the second time in as many weeks, we hear about another troublesome occurrence near the gallery-events space. Last Friday night, a birthday party turned into mayhem after rumors circulated that rapper Theophilous […]
What’s better than an architectural rendering of a Lower East Side eyesore? An animation of the changed skyline, of course. That’s precisely what Extell Development Corporation has assembled to extoll the virtues of its One Manhattan Square development, and the lesser-pimped affordable building adjacent. Take a look at the edited drone visualization, which illustrates the sheer […]
Armed with the grammatically correct slogan, “More care, fewer condos,” locals continue to rally (and rail) against the de Blasio Administration for its mishandling of the Rivington House boondoggle. It just seems like every week there’s another headline about how one of the Mayor’s top advisors possessed secret knowledge of the controversial deed lifting that […]
Tonight the people were so fine They waited there in line And when they got up on their feet They made the show And that was sweet But I can hear the sound Of slamming doors and folding chairs And that’s a sound they’ll never know -Jackson Browne, “The Load Out” That’s all, folks. ABC […]
It’s not just nightlife tune-ups, the Hotel on Rivington is seemingly trying to reinvent itself. Last month, we noted the nightlife reboot on premise. The Shanghai-themed lounge, Jia (formerly Viktor & Spoils), and an as-yet-unnamed Mediterranean restaurant in the adjacent space. Both are by the collective hand of Roberto Buchelli (Beautique, Provocateur) and Corey Lane (partner […]
The International Center of Photography officially opened its flagship Bowery location to the public yesterday. Its coronation was years in the making, and caps an extended period of dormancy for this storefront real estate at 250 Bowery. With its arrival in the neighborhood, though, is a tag-along eats occupant. Indeed, lost in all the headlines […]
