Cesar Kuriyama made quite the splash after revealing his “1 Second Everyday” time capsule application to the masses late last year. With help from Kickstarter (and plenty of press), the Brooklyn-based entrepreneur exceeded the initial goal, and was able to crowdfund nearly $57,000 toward the project. The campaign concluded at the end of December, and now the free app is ready to download; it’s only available for iPhone at the moment, but Android is in the works.

The easy-to-use interface allows you to snip existing videos from your camera roll, or shoot new footage from within the app. Just think, by the end of the week, 7 seconds of your life will be digitally catalogued for posterity.

Glassy Gertel’s Killing Condo Has Risen from the Dead on Hester Street

Once dubbed a “historic hole,” the former home of Gertel’s Bakery at 53 Hester Street is now filled with an eleven-story tumor. Sitting unpretty. Unencumbered, even. ‘Shakespeare in the Parking Lot’ Debuts Thursday with New Venue at the CSV Center

If Essex Crossing is the greedy landlord, then “Shakespeare in the Parking Lot” could be considered the harassed rent regulated tenant. The long-running troupe – the Drilling Company – spent twenty seasons entertaining locals in the former municipal car park at Ludlow and Broome Streets. That run ended with a performance of Othello last August, […]
