Gritty street-style showroom Klughaus Gallery recently departed its Chinatown perch. Indeed, the ground level at 47 Monroe Street went dark January 1 after exactly one year at this address. It was a space that seemed to capitalize on the youthful energy generated across the way at Coleman Skatepark. Rime and Toper headlined the anniversary gallery show with “Snap Back: Dangerous Drawings About New York,” the fourteenth and final installation at this address.

Klughaus is reportedly moving to a new location later in the spring, but not much else is known beyond that. We’ll keep you apprised.

Meanwhile, a large leasing sign has since taken up residence on the security gate.

Brannon’s on Essex Closes for ‘Renovations’ After 10 Months

Another potential loss for Essex Street. The writing is on the wall door. Comfort eatery Brannon’s at 119 Essex is now closed for the requisite “renovations.” To those following at home, that excuse oftentimes translates to death watch. The branded social media arm is quiet, and emails to owner Ron Brannon have gone unanswered. Brannon’s opened […]
