Mars Bar Corner to Become TD Bank Branch

Fuckin’ hell. This shouldn’t come as any surprise to Lower East Siders, but the newly-built corner which heretofore hosted Mars Bar is to become a 4,300 square-foot bank. Another branch of TD, to be exact. The New York Post confirmed as much in a tidbit yesterday, noting the institution just signed the lease for an undisclosed amount. It’s no less maddening, and further salt in a two-year-old wound that hasn’t completely healed.

Despite seemingly hollow promises to the contrary, a Mars Bar return to East First Street seems rather unlikely. Jupiter 21 is now in orbit beside equally craptastic living quarters like the twin Avalons. The mixed-use condo/rental development should open sometime in the spring.

Someone Trashed the Blueprints for the Ace Hotel Bowery on the Sidewalk

Trash is sometimes treasure. Everyone knows that 225 Bowery is to become the newest Ace Hotel in the stable. However, the company never officially confirmed their intentions here. Essex Street Light Poles are Now LED-Equipped
