Mars Bar Corner to Become TD Bank Branch

Fuckin’ hell. This shouldn’t come as any surprise to Lower East Siders, but the newly-built corner which heretofore hosted Mars Bar is to become a 4,300 square-foot bank. Another branch of TD, to be exact. The New York Post confirmed as much in a tidbit yesterday, noting the institution just signed the lease for an undisclosed amount. It’s no less maddening, and further salt in a two-year-old wound that hasn’t completely healed.

Despite seemingly hollow promises to the contrary, a Mars Bar return to East First Street seems rather unlikely. Jupiter 21 is now in orbit beside equally craptastic living quarters like the twin Avalons. The mixed-use condo/rental development should open sometime in the spring.

  • WTF

It’ll be perfect next the the Blue and cream douchebag clothing store. Thanks NY, certainly an upgrade to our fine, unique city.

  • Ugh

Who the F uses TD Bank? The only thing they’re good for is that loose change counting b*tch Penny.
