Oh, great. Here comes the fuckin’ Sex and the City television prequel to ruin the neighborhood once more. If past is any indication, The Carrie Diaries will ultimately help deliver even more “OMG Girls” and the hordes of B&T to our doorstep. Requisite filming signs went up rather early to cordon the swath of territory northeast of Delancey and Essex Streets.

The Carrie Diaries is the CW show based on Candace Bushnell’s book series of same name. It follows protagonist Carrie Bradshaw during her senior year of high school in the early eighties. Snooze.

Of course, we should mention that the whole idea for the Sex and the City story was based on Bushnell’s column for the Observer, the first of which was written about B Bar on the Bowery.

Use this Website to Customize Your Optimal Lower East Side Street

The Lower East Side Partnership wants to “reimagine” both Ludlow and Canal Streets because they’re “important and valuable corridors of the Lower East Side.” Just remember that reimagine is oftentimes a euphemism for upscale/gentrify. To achieve said goal, the business improvement district teamed up with Streetmix to create an online tool (nay, game) to customize the […]

Revised Proposal Sees Hotelier Hank Freid Bringing ‘Haven Rooftop’ to Holiday Inn on Delancey Street

It’s back to square-one for the Holiday Inn on Delancey Street, which is trying everything in the playbook to install a fifty-table rooftop bar. The controversial proposal didn’t go over too well with Community Board 3 last month, during which dozens of residents (and the board) protested. After the denial, it appears that operators Joe Donagher […]

I like using Bowery Boogie for local news, but do you ever get tired of complaining about everything that happens? There is a lot of positive in a show filming here.

zero positivity for residents. idling semi trailers with gas fumes. what do we get – a glimpse of a celebrity? junior asst. directors directing us off our own sidewalks? f–k them. there’s something called Kaufman Studios in Astoria – it’s used for filming.

Show won’t be around that long anyway. Many fans of sex have vowed not to watch it because it completely ignores the original series I give it it’s first season at most
