The Strokes Announce “Comedown Machine” for March Release

Strokes news is fast and furious this week. First a fresh single to tickle the ears (“One Way Trigger”) and now more conclusive album details. Billboard has it that the city-based retro-rock outfit will drop its fifth studio LP, Comedown Machine, on March 26. Hopefully the music contained therein sounds better than this lame-ass title…

The first official single is “All the Time,” available to the public as a free download for those who pre-order the record starting February 19.

By the way, the release date for Comedown Machine comes nearly two years to the day after the arrival of Angles.

What do you think of the new song…and the cover art?

At 24 Stories, You Can Now See Extell’s LES Tower from Delancey Street

At approximately 24 stories, Extell’s luxury behemoth, One Manhattan Square, is the tallest in the immediate vicinity. Trumping Rutgers Houses, Two Bridges Tower, and the Manhattan Bridge roadbed. The superstructure is now also visible from the intersection of Delancey and Essex Streets. An almost uninterrupted sight. It only gets worse from here, too. That tumor […]

Cursed ‘Lowlife’ Space On Stanton Street Hits the Market Again

The curse of 178 Stanton Street certainly is alive and well. In the four years prior, three different bar-restaurants tried to make a go of it, all failing in short order. The latest, Lowlife, shuttered back in June after a six month run; it was preceded by the Moldy Fig (d. February 2012) and Stanton Kitchen […]
