Condo owners at 199 Bowery are ratcheting up pressure against EMM Group and its bid to legitimize Finale, the backroom dance club surreptitiously approved for liquor without community consideration. It was a neighborhood bait-and-switch of epic proportions, and so residents are acting in kind. In the week since the SLA agenda surfaced, the activists plastered street furniture along the Bowery with flyers beckoning folks to sign a petition against the Lower Eastpacking presence here.

Here is the full text lifted from the flyer:

Oppose Finale NYC

The nightclub Finale NYC at 199 Bowery is a “Meatpacking-style” venue that has brought additional traffic, noise, and congestion to our neighborhood. Moreover, it located here by deceptive means, hiding its true identity under the guise of a restaurant/bakery when it went before the Community Board. But Finale has an Achilles Heel. Their location within the property violates the guidelines imposed by the Community Board, and now they are scheduled for a hearing at which they will try to retroactively legalize the location. This may be our best chance to shut them down. You can help in two ways:

  1. Sign a petition against them. The best way is to come no Nolita Place Condominium at 199 Bowery and sign the petition available at the front desk. (You can also go online)
  2. Attend the hearing. It is scheduled for Monday, February 11 at 6:30 pm, JASA/Green Residence, 200 E. 5th Street. A large turnout will help our cause.

This fight could get ugly real quick…
