At the Sanitation Salt Dump on Pike Slip

At the southernmost point of Pike slip, beneath the blue undercarriage of the Manhattan Bridge, sits this open-air storage facility. Dormant for much of the year, it is here that the Department of Sanitation hordes a monstrous mound of salt in the event of a snowstorm (snowy day fund). Like this past weekend.

Early Saturday morning, in the aftermath of the weather event they’re stupidly calling Nemo, snow plows made frequent pit stops for salt delivery. Cool to see the warehouse in action.
