Celebrate the Chinese New Year of the Snake

Out flies the dragon, in slithers the snake.
The Chinese New Year is swiftly approaching, falling this year next Sunday, February 10. To celebrate the arrival of the Snake, Chinatown will host the 14th-annual eardrum-busting Firecracker Ceremony, in which some 500,000 explosives are detonated. As in previous years, the festivities will go down at the recently-renovated courts of the Hester Street Playground in Sara D. Roosevelt Park.
The Lunar New Year Parade follows a week later on February 17, and will snake through the streets of Chinatown and Little Italy. Mark those calendars.

Both events are hosted by the Better Chinatown Society. And speaking of snakes, Indy might not be too thrilled…
