Comedian Jim Gaffigan is filming his CBS pilot series in the neighborhood tomorrow. The stand-up star (and Lower East Sider) joined forces with Rescue Me co-creator Peter Tolan for the new television project, simply named Gaffigan.

According to IMDB, the plot seems autobiographical in nature. A dude named Jim lives with his wife and two kids in a small two-bedroom apartement in NYC. Actress Mira Sorvino was cast to play his wife Jeannie. Not much else is known at the moment.

Filming notices are already in place, establishing a broad filming zone bounded by Chrystie, Essex, Stanton, and Broome.

The 5th Precinct Officer and Tackled Cyclist Square off in the Mosh Pit [PHOTOS]

Last week, we published an article about a 5th Precinct cop stationed on Canal Street who tackled a red-light-running cyclist after exiting the Manhattan Bridge bike path. The story went totally bonkers with all points of view recorded in the comments (86 and counting). However, was the response (i.e. use of force) proportional to the […]

Preserve 24 Space on East Houston Might Take ‘One for the Frog’

Remnants of Preserve 24 still grace the premises of 177 East Houston nearly six months after its epic failure. The ambitious, albeit cockamamie concept – bringing to life a fictional explorer’s club story and its mission to retrieve glacial ice – had immediate trouble attracting the masses to fill the expansive two floors. No surprise […]

Little Seattle Blues: Via Tribunali is Finished with Ludlow Street

A tipster brought word last week that Via Tribunali had been strangely closed during peak dinner hours. Chairs on tables, blue neon unplugged; a ghost town. “I was there about a week and a half ago and it was VERY open,” the person wrote to us. Well, it’s now confirmed; they served their last Neopolitan […]
