And it’s actually happening. Nordic nightlife is replacing a longtime French-themed hangout down on Canal Street.

As first reported here, the ten-year-old Les Enfants Terribles shuttered earlier this year to undergo a series of renovations that would yield something completely different from the original. Upon reopening, 37 Canal will boast an Icelandic concept complete with a new bar and smoker in the rear for meats and fish. Sources also intimate that the as-yet-unnamed bar-restaurant will have a retail component for food goods, and also boast a basement hangout.

This touch of Iceland should open sometime in mid-July.
