Grey Lady Principals Now Eyeing 74 Orchard Street

As it happens, Spur Tree is not in fact moving into 74 Orchard Street despite recent intel to the contrary. Something about plans falling through last minute. Regardless, another familiar face from just around the corner is instead poised to take over. Looks like the year-old Grey Lady is opening a sister seafood restaurant here.

Principals Callum and Gavin McLaughlin and Ryan Chadwick (Norman’s Cay Group LLC) will have a go with Community Board 3 on Monday night for full liquor privileges at the former Interstate Food & Liquor. Full liquor and nightly closing times of 4am are sought. The establishment has occupancy of 48 with 18 total tables.

It’s Time to Seriously Protest Moxy Hotel’s Demolition of an East Village Block

Grab the pitchforks. Marriott hotels, vis-a-vis landowner Lightstone Group, began demolition of a half-block of East Village history earlier this month to construct a 300-room lodge. That’s Moxy. The hotel, that is, geared specifically toward millenials with disposable income. The doomed real estate in question is five “landmark-eligible” buildings comprising 112-120 East 11th Street (across from Webster Hall). […]
