Word on the street is L’asso Pizza recently entered some difficult financial straits, and as a result, the newish East Village location at 107 First Avenue shuttered. Our tipster tells us that the under-the-radar closure transpired last week after slinging slices for just under two years. There aren’t any announcements on the gates, but a call to the HQ at 192 Mott confirms the closure.

The original outpost remains open for the time being, but we’ll keep you posted if anything changes.

L’asso first opened at the corner of Mott and Kenmare roughly six years ago. Its funky exterior remains an attraction in itself with colorful signage and a revolving selection of street art, notably from ASVP.

Drilling Begins Ahead of 6-Story Commercial Development at 19 East Houston Street

However, the deal didn’t actually go through until two weeks ago, […]

More About that 3-Level Equinox Gym Coming to Ben Shaoul’s Orchard Street Development

It’s old news that hated developer-landlord Ben Shaoul attracted Equinox gym to his new ten-story condo project beside Katz’s Deli. But it’s not yet a done deal. More red tape. The city, vis-a-vis the Board of Standards and Appeals, must first approve a special permit to operate a “physical culture establishment” under current zoning restrictions […]

Cursed 71 Clinton Street Space Reboots with ‘The Whales’ this Week

Down, but still not out, one Clinton Street bar-owner is apparently trying again. Those keeping track know full well that 71 Clinton Street is no stranger to turnover. It’s a perennially hexed property. Every restaurant in this spot since the eviction of Fat Hippo six years ago has been from the same principle – Patate […]

DIY: Make Your Own Future Band Flyers for ABC No Rio’s Final Exhibit

You know all of those wouldn’t-it-be-great band names that you’ve come up with when you are in a slightly “altered” state? Here’s your chance to create that band. Well, sort of. ABC No Rio has been the host for many a hardcore punk band in the past. But their makeshift creative space, carved out of […]
