Pet Island Opens at 363 Grand Street

Even though the sign reads Kosher Bakery, it’s now just a misnomer. The Jewish bake shop, last of its kind on this part of the Lower East Side, threw in the towel last March. As reported in July, the replacement tenant at 363 Grand Street is a pet store called Pet Island, featuring groceries and accessories. It opened over the weekend.

There was obviously some sort of demand for Pet Island, given the number of domestic animals within a few block radius. Now, if only people started picking up the dog shit…
