Take a Drive Through the ‘Gritty’ 1980s East Village [VIDEO]

With a title like “Gritty Late 1980s New York Lower East Side,” the following clip was absolutely impossible to ignore. Shot from the POV of a moving car, the three-minute video provides a great snapshot of the streetscapes in that era, beginning with a left-turn from East Houston north onto Avenue D.

The footage was plucked from the Kinolibrary archives, an independent agency that represents “remarkable and rare archive footage from around the world.”
