250 Bowery: First Tenants Arrive and Near Break-In
250 Bowery is now occupied. Partially, at least. The first tenants are beginning to trickle into the building, a high-profile residential project that was more than seven years in the making.
Also, a Boogie tipster purports that three hooligans were nearly arrested (but let go) for attempting to break into 250 Bowery on Wednesday evening. The crew had also defaced a number of the RKF real estate signs, of which there are many, along the beloved thoroughfare.
Meanwhile, RKF is still trying to fill the retail void left by the sudden defection of Anthropologie earlier this summer (the ground floor space is now owned by David Edelstein). There is some talk on the street that brokers in general are somewhat worried that the Bowery is “fighting back” against the onslaught of gentrification. Hard to know what that means for sure, but recent news like an alleged Ace Hotel at 225 Bowery would appear to debunk that talk.
