We’re in the middle of Chanukah, and Passover is a good four months away, yet that doesn’t stop Streit’s from cranking out tons of matzo. A reader spotted “an epic amount of matzo” sitting on the sidewalk outside the factory yesterday. Well over a dozen skids by our count, and easily the most we’ve seen packed and shipped at one time.

Our tipster notes that the payload was all egg matzo, and that it sat on the sidewalk for the whole morning.

Macondo on East Houston Was Shuttered by the Taxman Yesterday

Macondo on East Houston is kaput, six-and-a-half years after first opening. The taxman (i.e. tax compliance agent) came yesterday and seized its assets without warning. When we happened past the establishment later in the evening, the security gates were drawn and seizure documentation plastered across the facade. The State of New York is now the […]

Two Dudes Bring the MTA’s ‘Courtesy Counts’ Etiquette Campaign to Life [VIDEO]

The unwritten rules of subway etiquette seem fairly obvious; let off before you get on, relinquish your seat for someone who needs it, save nail clippers for the privacy of your own bathroom. Yet the “Courtesy Counts” campaign recently unleashed by the MTA suggests otherwise on these assumed understandings. New Yorkers Christian “CJ” Koegel and his partner […]
