As expected, those bright red neons from the Famous Oyster Bar are now a Lower East Side fixture. The illuminated signage was installed on the corner marquee of Grey Lady yesterday afternoon. DOB permits for the exterior appendage are taped to the windows of 77 Delancey for good measure.

Grey Lady co-owner Ryan Chadwick purchased the relic “Oyster Bar” neons at auction after the longtime midtown seafood joint foundered in January. It had been in business since 1959, and was run by the same Greek family until owner Angelo Agmonostopoulo died in 2010. Partner Ajit Saha took over thereafter, and held on until the end.
