Seth Rogen’s new film, Xmas, will take over (and shut down) 169 Bar for the remainder of the week. Film shoot for the Christmas comedy is headquartered here until Thursday evening. Owner Charles Hanson tells us he hopes to reopen Friday at 6pm.

Meanwhile, the same movie was filming at Congee Village on Allen Street yesterday. Judging by the of extras dressed as religious Jews, the scene is likely a variation on the Jews eating Chinese food on Christmas Eve punch line. Appropriate, though, as that tradition was born on the Lower East Side. At Schmulka Bernstein’s on Essex Street.

The film focuses on three childhood friends who reunite in New York City to uphold their annual tradition of partying on Christmas Eve. Further plot details beyond that premise are scant at best.
