The Annual ‘National Night Out’ is on East Broadway Today
Tonight, the 7th Precinct Community Council and NYPD will partake in National Night Out Against Crime festivities.
The annual block party is held from sea to shining sea in an effort to increase awareness for police programs within communities, such as highlighting neighborhood watches and drug prevention. The Lower East Side iteration will aditionally include entertainment, rides, food, and raffles.
NNO has been around since 1984, and is sponsored by the National Association of Town Watch in the United States and Canada. Last year, more than thirty-eight million residents in twenty-thousand communities across the country attended an event.
The event is free, and is happening from 4 to 9pm, on East Broadway, between Clinton and Rutgers Street.
