The Future Home of Essex Street Market Gets Glassed up
By this time next year, the Essex Street Market will be in its new home. Until then, we watch the progress at Site 2, where the future headquarters is taking shape. In fact, with the topping out last week, the whole development is now starting to resemble all the renderings.
The three-story glass exterior lining the Broome Street front was installed over the last couple weeks, and is now on display. Open wide.
As previously revealed, this $15 million replacement facility is a threefold size upgrade for the 77-year-old Essex Street Market. It offers 37,000 square-feet of available retail, and a 4,700 square-foot mezzanine level that boasts both seating and a “demonstration kitchen.” The larger space also allows for eleven new vendors and two restaurant tenants to join the family. It’s scheduled to open in September 2018, with all current vendors making the journey.
