The ‘Taste Collection’ Readies Orchard Street Lingerie Boutique

Finally, a replacement for Tobaldi at the southwest corner of Rivington and Orchard Streets. You’ll recall that the haberdasher fled Hell Square in March 2016 after three decades in business. The corner space hadn’t seen much action since the departure. Until now.

A new lifestyle boutique called Taste Collection is poised to open at 83 Rivington Street. Store signage arrived onsite last week. According to its website, the new shop features styles for both men and women, but geared toward the latter. Offerings include lingerie, swimwear, athleisure, and jewelry.

It’s also worth pointing out that Taste Collection employee Shane Walsh is also behind the proposal for a new Filipino restaurant next door. The chef – whose experience includes Prune, Bubby’s Tribeca, and Jones Wood Foundry – teamed up with Stephen Young for “Burgers and Chismis” at 125 Orchard Street. The menu features choices like Spam burgers, a crispy pork knuckle sandwich with pickled enoki mushroom, chicken and pork belly adobo, and pickled mackerel. Their beer-wine application was approved by Community Board 3 last spring.
