The Bowery is Torn Apart for Water Main Replacements [PHOTOS]

As if there isn’t enough roadwork happening along the Bowery mid-section, more is ongoing. Crews have been tearing up the west side of the street – between Prince and Spring – for at least the last month.

Area residents are now faced with daytime water disconnection and temporary trash pickup changes. This is part of the three-year push to replace water mains at various locations in the neighborhood.

That’s in addition to the simultaneous construction clusterfuck at the intersection of East Houston Street, where ever-elusive completion date forever gets pushed back. The final leg of that reconstruction project is still happening, and with no timetable for completion. (It was supposed to be September 2017.)

Not to mention construction on both the CitizenM and Ace Hotels within mere yards.

So, needless to say, traffic is a slight problem.
