September Wines Addresses Closure Talk, Says its Amidst ‘Lease Renewal’

On Monday, we reported that September Wines & Spirits on Stanton Street is potentially on shaky ground. Several real estate listings surfaced that pitched the twelve-year-old booze shop as available for rent, leading to speculation of an imminent closure.

September Wines responded to the news, however, noting that the store is not closing. At least they hope not…

“We are not closing … and are in negotiations with our landlord for our lease renewal,” owner Shelley McClure tells us. “We are making every effort to remain in our location in our beloved neighborhood.”

September Wines debuted on Stanton Street at the end of 2005. A very different time in the life of the Lower East Side, indeed.
