‘Tribes of Morocco’ Vanishes After 6 Years on Delancey Street
When Tribes of Morocco debuted on Delancey Street back in 2011, it seemed an unlikely contender in a homogenizing retail landscape. Nevertheless, the two-room store persisted, remaining in play for six years. Until now.
A tipster writes in to say that owner Khalil Hafdy is calling it quits this week. Instead, we’re told that the business will continue in the online marketplace.
Hafdy spent six years selling importing eclectic goods from various regions of Morocco. Everything from rugs, scarves, mosaic tables, and tea kettles. The imminent closure is also the impetus behind the deep discounts advertised in the windows (i.e. 50% off).
