Q: It used to be so easy to comment. What’s with the new system?
A: We’re sorry to hear you’re having trouble with the system. Now in addition to using your Blogger (Google) accounts to comment, you can use your Facebook, Twitter, OpenID, Myspace, Yahoo, or AOL screen name. If you are still having trouble, send us an email and we’ll try to help you figure it out. Your comments are what makes the site great and we don’t want to stop you from adding to the conversation!
Q: What’s the difference between the login methods?
A: We are using the Disqus commenting system now which allows you to login using many different types of accounts that you already use on any of the major social networks. Using a social network account lets you share your Bowery Boogie interaction with your friends and networks outside of BoweryBoogie.com. We recommend signing up for an account at Disqus.com. With a Disqus account, you will be able to modify and delete comments that you make on any site that supports Disqus.
Q: What is OpenID and how can I use my Blogger name to leave comments?
A: The short answer is that OpenID is a way to use a single username on many sites. In fact, you most likely already have an OpenID account. Usernames from sites such as Google, Blogger, Flickr, Livejournal, AOL, Wordpress will work as OpenID accounts. Please see http://openid.net/get-an-openid/ for more information.
Q: How do I change my user picture?
A: All user icons are now stored outside of BoweryBoogie depending on the type of account used to login. Editing your profile page on that site will update your icon on this site as well.
Q: Is my user information safe?
A: We understand that privacy is of utmost importance, and we do our best to keep your information safe. There are absolutely no plans to sell your email address to spammers. With that said, don’t include your bank info in your profile and you should be pretty safe. For more info, visit our privacy policy page.
