As last winter drew to a close, Karl Lagerfeld and his posse of photographers and eye candy seized a piece of lower Orchard Street for a Chanel shoot. At the time, scantily-clad models were seen perched on the decorative fire escapes above An Choi. Official photos, which will appear in their Fall/Winter 2010-11 catalog, were not available until now.

In the final days of March, the Endless Wireless Group Sprint dealership at 101 Delancey replaced its black awning, and in the process, revealed some rather striking ghost signage of a much older storefront tenant. Indeed, the Jay-Mor Hats lettering was on display for about a week. Now, five months on, the wireless outpost is out of business.

Indie rockers AM to AM had their work cut out for them last Thursday night at Crash Mansion. Up until they started their late set, it had been a fairly subdued evening. Three low-key bands played before them and by the time we arrived, the wallflower audience situation looked dire.

Those rumors about Mother-in-Law’s Kimchi assuming control of the old Guss’ Pickles HQ can now be put to sleep for the duration. Six months after the pickle stand decamped for Borough Park as Ess-a-Pickle, a completely different type of business is moving into the small storefront. A specialty cigar shop called Maraya.
