More on the Eldridge Street Synagogue Window [Video]

In Boardwalk Empire, Al Capone didn’t have the pleasure to see the two-month-old stained-glass window inside the Eldridge Street Synagogue.  Lucky for us, the masterpiece is a reality. On a related note, an esteemed reader sent along a link to the following video clip, in which we learn all about the design and installation process.

Eldridge Street Synagogue Has New Stained-Glass Window

Yesterday afternoon was the public unveiling of the new stained-glass window at the Eldridge Street Synagogue. An open house, as it were.  The sanctioned arwork is the final piece in the decades-old restoration of the historic landmark.

New Hotel Rising at 5 Allen?

Down at the southern terminus of Allen Street, where the roadway forks into Pike, a narrow finger building is gradually on the rise. All signs point to this being a hotel, mere steps from another hotel in the works where Hong Kong Supermarket once stood.

Pike Loop Installation Removed

It took a double-take before we finally realized what happened.  Walking down the Allen Street Mall near Division, the decrepit space was somehow different.  Lacking a certain something that, for the moment, we couldn’t place.  Then, the proverbial light bulb – the Pike Loop installation was quietly removed.
