Law & Order returns to the streets of the Lower East Side today, this time located on Ludlow.  Of course, the obligatory neon no parking signs are firmly secured in the immediate vicinity. All this filming less than a week after Wall Street 2 requisitioned Tommy Guns Salon, and turned Ludlow into a UK street.  […]

This sudden outbreak of roadwork activity is part of the DOT’s sweeping plan (PDF) to improve pedestrian safety in the […]

Manhattan Railway Company, Station 5

Last modified August 11, 2009 at 11:29 pm

Amidst the hustle-bustle of food wholesalers along the bowels of Allen Street is a hidden piece of ephemeral New York.  Above the disheveled store signage at 100 Division Street is enough graffiti to distract the casual observer from seeing the century-old bronze lettering affixed to its facade – Manhattan Railway Co., Station 5. The brick […]

2 Allen Street to be Demolished

Last modified November 19, 2010 at 3:16 pm

The wrecking ball is returning to the eastern reaches of Chinatown. Over the weekend, we noticed that the entire corner plot of 2 Allen Street (aka 118-124 Division Street/1-3 Orchard Street) was surrounded by fresh plywood. DOB permits were nowhere in site, so we did some investigation and discovered that the four-story building will soon […]
