Sperone Westwater Gallery Elevator at 257 Bowery Turns Red

Behind the smoked, slatted glasswork of the Sperone Westwater Gallery at 257 Bowery, the hotly-anticipated elevator has received its defining “Ferrari-red” hue.  This just a few weeks after the lift was first installed.

Volkswagen is filming a commercial in the neighborhood today.  Orchard and Ludlow Streets between East Houston and Stanton are to be cordoned off for the shoot.

As of today, the Orchard Street Hell Building, is in a new phase of existence.  It now boasts some reflective flare.  One word, folks. Glass.

Watering the Greenstreets of East Houston [Video]

Yesterday evening, the Greenstreets watering truck was heading on a westerly course down East Houston.  Moving along at a snail’s pace, the tanker sprays a constant upward stream of water into the flowerbed.  And that’s precisely how the city’s traffic medians are watered when there hasn’t been much rain.  Mystery solved!

Rag & Bone Facade Tagged

Rag & Bone just received its very first tag yesterday, and it’s not too positive.  Scrawled in the white space beneath the tribute mural on the Elizabeth Street facade is the barbed phrase, “You Would.” Perhaps the Bowery Ghosts that Billy Leroy referred to are responsible.
