Zucco Memorial Service at Angel Orensanz Last Night

Last night was the funeral service for the beloved Zucco, the proprietor of Le French Diner who passed away last weekend of a heart attack.  One reader, Steven Gibaldi, attended and emailed us some of his thoughts.

The Big Reveal: Pulino’s Bar and Pizzeria Sheds Plywood

The after-hours work continues at 282-284 Bowery, new home of Pulino’s Bar and Pizzeria.  Indeed, a day after snagging a quick glimpse of the brick-and-tile interior, away comes the plywood. We passed the construction site last night and were met with an almost-unfettered view of the Bowery exterior.  This morning it’s nearly all clear.

Behind the bill-laden sidewalk shed of 282-284 Bowery, Pulino’s Bar and Pizzeria is racing toward the finish line.  The lights were on well into the evening hours.  Peering through one unobstructed window, there is finally some semblance of what’s in store.  And it’s all about tile, brick, and cast-iron doors.
