With foreclosure looming high above its eight-plus stories, the vacant 290 Mulberry – designed and built by SHoP Architects – is deteriorating before our very eyes. A section of the gray siding is bubbling and peeling.

Last night, after four consecutive weeks entertaining the neighborhood, the colorful nighttime light show at 290 Mulberry went dark. Kaput. Oh well, it was a novel idea while it lasted.

Return of the Sidewalk on Lafayette

Four days after our subway connection progress report, the subterranean construction work at the northeast corner of Lafayette Street and Houston is now capped with cement.  All hail the return of the sidewalk!
