‘Brigitte’ Finally Fills the Void at 37 Canal Street with French Fare

Posted August 8, 2017 at 5:00 am

Two years after the fall of Skal (and those Starbucks rumors), its replacement venture is on the way. Of course, we’ve heard this story before. French Fare Makes a Comeback this Fall Where ‘Skal’ Failed on Canal Street

Posted September 7, 2016 at 9:25 am

It’s been a year and a half since the Icelandic Skal struck out. In the interim fourteen months, construction ceased, Starbucks was rumored to open at Canal Street and, later, Cafe Katja briefly considered an expansion. But no, it’s gonna return to its roots as a French-style restaurant (i.e. Les Enfants Terribles). Supposedly; this project […]

The restaurant has been closed for the better part of the last week, most notably during the peak weekend nights. In fact, the corner hang at 37 Canal Street maintained a rather staggered schedule of late. Word on the street is that […]

Skal. That’s the Icelandic toast equivalent of cheers, Prost, salud, or l’chaim. It’s also the name of the new Nordic establishment opening at 37 Canal Street.
